Senior GOYA (High School)

The Senior GOYA (or Senior Greek Orthodox Youth of America) of Assumption Church is an extension of our community’s broad youth and young adult ministry. Serving all teenagers 9th-12th grade, and led  this ministry provides youth with opportunities to participate in worship, volunteer and engage in philanthropic activities, and grow their Orthodox Christian faith.  Founded on the principles of worship, fellowship, service, and witness, this national parish ministry is led and guided by Laurie Stamas and Vanessa and Takis Makridis, along with other adult and young adult volunteers.  By getting involved in Senior GOYA, high school youth learn to express their faith through a variety of hands on activities, including community outreach, informed dialogue, and liturgical services, and are further encouraged to take on leadership roles by helping with our various JOY and HOPE events (such as First Fridays and Vacation Bible School); and all parish-wide activities.

Beyond weekly worship and Sunday School classes, programs tailored specifically to our teenagers include the SR GOYA Forum, Desert GOYA, Altar Service, Greek Dance, Project Mexico, All Saints Summer Camp (ASC), and numerous other ministries, events, and outreach.  An excellent opportunity for our 9th-12th grade young people to participate and grow in our ancient faith, please contact our church office at (480) 991-3009 to get involved.
