What is the Assumption Agape Alliance?
The Assumption Agape Alliance is a service-oriented ministry of parishioners whose purpose is to identify individuals who have special needs and, working together with Fr. Andrew, assist in meeting those needs.
In the spirit of Christian love, the volunteers will Assist those Grieving, Alone, Patients, Elderly, and others with physical, social or spiritual needs that can be met (at least in part) by parish members.
What services are available?
Services include, but are not limited to:
Visiting the sick, elderly, disabled, shut-ins, new mothers, and families of the deceased. Establishing and maintaining telephone contact with homebound individuals. Providing individualized assistance in special situations (e.g., illness, surgery or accidents, job loss, divorce, or other family crises). Facilitating identification and communication with community resources. Supplying food, clothing, emergency assistance. Arranging transportation to church and medical appointments. Staying with patients while caregivers tend to errands. Assisting with correspondence, shopping, household chores, and minor home repairs. Providing prayer cards, books, small gifts.
How can I request assistance?
Contact the parish office or the individual listed above. In cases of acute illness or hospitalization, please call promptly to ensure that you are visited.
If your specific needs are not listed among the services, please call and discuss your situation---assistance may be available.
Can I request assistance for others?
Yes. Be alert to the needs of your fellow parishioners. If someone may need our help, encourage him/her to call. Even better, make the call yourself!
Who can volunteer?
All are welcome---women, men, and children. Volunteers specify the activities in which they wish to participate and the times they are available.
Volunteers may choose to participate in one type of activity, or in more than one. Time commitments range from a few minutes to several hours a month.
Why should I volunteer?
Jesus said: "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself." (Matt. 22:37-39).
This church ministry is your opportunity to perform good works in the spirit of Christian love, or agape.
Whom do I contact for help or to volunteer?
To request assistance or volunteer, please call the Assumption Agape Alliance confidential hotline: (480) 391-8015 or e-mail: assumptionagape@cox.net
Remember, all volunteers are welcome - men, women, and children. Volunteers may choose to participate in one or more types of ministries and specify the activities in which they wish to participate and the times they are available.
We greatly appreciate our parishioners' commitment and thank all Chairpersons who volunteer to chair the above mentioned ministries and their supporting Volunteers who show their Love in Action!
THE BLESSING OF A VISIT - Unless you have spent a length of time confined, for any number of reasons, you may not be aware of the great blessing a visit can bring. Illnesses, bereavement, depression, loss of mobility, are only a few of the possible reasons someone might need a visit. You can be one of the reasons someone Smiles. Your visit can do precisely that!
